The Global Party is a salute to the sybaritic splendour and glamour imagined in the parties of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, but the drive behind it is not Daisy Buchanan.  It’s all for the love of philanthropy. c

Four times a year the world’s biggest parties kick off.  A scintillating extravaganza trailblazing across 311 cities, in 120 countries over a sizzling 24-hours.  Let’s go on a 24- hour tour of the seven hottest parties around the globe.

Party-hopping starts in London; taking a swift jaunt north to Stockholm; after meatballs and schnapps it’s off to cheese-burying Moscow.  Dubai, Mumbai and Hong Kong parties follow before reaching the celebrity mecca of Shelborne Wyndham on Miami Beach.

After a three-year closure – and a £220m bill – the magnificently restored Savoy looks as fabulous as when Fred and Adele Astaire danced here. After a couple Hanky Panky’s – the hotel’s signature cocktail – we’re ready to explore other parties.  All aboard a customised Boeing Dreamliner we jet off to Sweden.

At Stockholm’s Pure Nightclub – winner of the Finest Awards for two years in a row – a few mind-numbing ice-cold schnapps and we are bouncing with intoxicating enthusiasm. We hail an uberchopper to take us to Arlanda Airport.  Next stop Russia!

Cavalli-Club1

Cavalli Club, Dubai. Host of the hottest parties in the Middle East

Enlightenment comes to us at Moscow’s Renaissance Hotel, manifested in a delicately salted cucumber washed down with a Dom Perignon vintage. It’s a five-hour flight from Moscow to Dubai, which gives us time to decide which Coleman Douglas Pearls we’re going to buy in UAE.

At the Cavalli Club in Dubai, we ensure the champagne bill is under the £70,000 mark and hasten our way to India’s cultural capital, Mumbai.

boujis-honk-kong

Find fantasia parties at Boujis, Hong Kong.

For more than a century the Taj Mahal Palace has been intrinsic to the city and its colonial-style architecture gives The Global Party a sense of purpose.  After a hefty line-up of Vesper Martinis, we jet off to Hong Kong.

At the private members club of Boujis we slump into an Oxford Green Seattle armchairs.  We can use some hydration to wean down the alcohol consumption.  Garcon! Ice-cold water comes hand-served, infused with mint and citrus to restore energy levels for the final push.  Miami, here we come!  Stepping out onto the tarmac, we are struck by an inebriating perfume of tropics smothered under the sweltering heat.

Last party before heading back to the stead. Miami’s iconic landmark resort The Shelborne Wyndham is on fire! Welcomed by sequined and feathered dancers gyrating to the beats of La Rumba and majordomes in white gloves hoisting champagne trays, we take a second wind and get lost in the crowd.  The Global Party is on.
